Christian Oliver Remembered as ‘Great Colleague, Actor and Friend’ After Death in Plane Crash: ‘Profound Loss’

Friends and colleagues of Christian Oliver mourn the actor after news of his death in a plane crash along with his two children.

51-year-old actor, known for his roles in films such as 1995 Club of babysittersplus Good German and racing driver, he died on Thursday when the plane he was in crashed in the Caribbean, near the island of Bequia. His two daughters, Madita, 10, and Annik, 12, were also killed, as was pilot Robert Sachs, local authorities said.

In a post on Instagram, actress Bai Ling shared a tribute to the late actor, writing, “with tears in my eyes I cannot express the sadness I felt when our [director Nick Lyon] he called me recently, that the plane he took crashed, including his 2 beautiful daughters and the pilot that they all passed! In the Caribbean. Had the holidays,” she wrote in part in her caption on Friday, alongside a photo of herself with Oliver.

“I just couldn’t believe it was true, the last shoot in #hollywood was on December 20th 2023, just before Christmas,” Ling added.

“Me [were] it should be filmed tomorrow one day,” she continued. “I cried cried, it was our first and last film together, I loved working with him so much, but luckily you can see our #film called #keep calm forever.”

“He was so. nice, worked so hard and such a brave #actor and a beautiful gentle person, we played #lovers in this movie, just so so sad,” Ling added. “#rip dear Christian may your soul rest in peace, sending love to your families.”

Oliver, who said in the past that he is still most often recognized for his role as international heartthrob Luca in Club of babysittershe was also honored as one of his actors in the 1995 coming-of-age film based on the Ann M. Martin book series of the same name.

“RIP,” Stacey Linn Ramsower, who played Mallory Pike in the film, wrote on her Instagram Story, adding a heartbroken emoji.

“I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of my friend, the talented #ChristianOliver and his two daughters,” said casting director Ivy Isenberg, who worked with Oliver on the 2009 comedy. Ready or not, wrote on X. “My heart goes out to their mother Jessica. There are no words at a time like this.”

David Michael Latt, co-producer of the 2014 film directed by Lyon Hercules Rebornhe shared a shot of the late actor in costume from the film and tweeted: “We met 10 years ago and made four amazing films together. You always elevated every project.”

“But every time we met socially it was always about family and your wonderful girls. Deep loss,” Latt added.

Actor Christian Oliver (51) and his daughters (10 and 12) died in the plane crash

A statement from the Royal Police Force of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Thursday confirmed that the bodies of the pilot and passenger were recovered from the plane and water by the SVG Coast Guard. The victims were later pronounced dead.

Oliver’s latest Instagram post featured a serene beach photo shared on New Year’s Day, captioned: “Let love rule. Wishing you all the best in 2024!”

“Greetings from somewhere in heaven! For community and love,” he wrote in the description.

In addition to the aforementioned film projects, Oliver was known for his roles in TV series such as Saved by the bell: New class, Meaning8 and Hunters. He has also acted in theater productions including Abduction from Seralj and Die Geschichte vom Soldatenaccording to his website, which also includes a demo reel of some of his outstanding performances since 2010.
