Christina Hall Gets Candid About Fans' Constant Quips that Her Ex Tarek El Moussa Has a ‘Type’ (Exclusive)

Christina Hall’s fans may think her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa has a guy – but she disagrees.

The HGTV star, 40, revealed to PEOPLE that she decided to rely on fan comments that she looked similar to Tarek’s now-wife, Selling Sunset alum Heather El Moussa, 36. “On social media, everyone is always like, ‘Oh, they’re so similar,’ or ‘Wow, he’s got his type,’” Hall says while speaking with PEOPLE ahead of the show’s new season Christina on the Coast (premiered on July 11).

“Obviously we’re both blondes, but we don’t really think we look alike,” she adds.

That didn’t stop Christina and Heather from showing off their similarities for a series of cheeky promo videos for their new show, Flip Offwhich will star both women, Tarek, 42, and Christina’s new husband, Josh Hall, 43,

In the first teaser clip the three HGTV stars shared together on Instagram in May, Heather and Hall are seen standing next to each other in identical outfits. “Hi, I’m Christina,” Heather says. “I’m Heather,” Hall replies.

With a look of confusion, Heather adds, “Wait, no, that’s not right,” and the pair begin twirling their matching blonde curls. Hall says with a shrug, “Must be from that bleach.”

Hall, who also stars in the spinoff Christina in the countryside, says the video was inspired by fan comments, dating back to when Tarek and Heather first got together in 2019.

“It was a play on that and just funny — it kind of came from there,” she says.

While Heather and Hall can now poke fun at fans who constantly compare them, it wasn’t always smooth sailing between the two.

In May 2022, nearly seven months after Tarek and Heather got married, Heather and Hall were photographed getting into a heated argument at one of Brayden’s soccer games. The trio later addressed the infamous feud that had fans buzzing in another promotional clip Flip Off.

Despite a sometimes rocky start, Hall tells PEOPLE that she and Heather are now “close” and things are going well between them.

“We were actually close for a while,” she says. “We constantly communicate about children. She’s a great stepmom — the kids love her so much.”

Hall continues, “People like to put on drama and then bring it up and act like nobody’s getting along, but the reality is that everyone’s been getting along for a very long time and co-parenting is very important to us.”

He jokes that “everything is actually boring, which is great.”

Flip Off will mark the first time Christina and Tarek have appeared on the show together since then Flip or flop ended after nine years in March 2022. The new competition series is set to premiere in 2025 and will follow Christina and Josh as they go up against Tarek and Heather in a battle for the money.

Christina is also gearing up for a brand new season Christina on the Coastwhich will feature “huge transformations” that are “bigger than any other season,” she tells PEOPLE.
