Model Christy Giles said she was out partying with a friend and was heading to an industrial area of East Los Angeles where a rave was taking place in the last text message she sent to her husband before he died.
Jan Cilliers, her husband, told The Post that he received a text from his wife of 24 years between midnight and 1 a.m. on November 13. He described the communication as “loving and caring,” according to Jan.
A few hours later, Giles was found unconscious at a Culver City hospital. There, he overdosed on fentanyl, cocaine, ketamine and GHB, sometimes called a “date rape drug” because attackers often use it to knock his prey unconscious.
Later that day, interior designer Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, a friend of Giles, was taken to another hospital in the Los Angeles area.
A few days later, a few days before his 27th birthday, Cabrales-Arzola died of organ failure. Cocaine, ecstasy and other unidentified drugs were found in his body. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged 40-year-old Hollywood producer and club promoter David Pearce with the murders of the women. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled both deaths homicides.
District Attorney George Gascón formally announced the murder charges Tuesday, also charging Pearce with multiple sexual assaults in unrelated incidents. According to Gascón, seven more women have come forward to charge the producer and party promoter with sexually assaulting them between 2010 and 2021. Prosecutors warned that there could be more women out there and urged potential victims to come forward.
Pearce is also charged with two counts of offering to sell a controlled narcotic to Giles and Cabrales-Arzola. If he is found guilty on all counts, Gascón said he could face up to 120 years in prison.
Pearce has been in custody on $3.4 million bail since December after being accused of raping four different women in unrelated incidents.
Cilliers told The Post on Tuesday: “I am incredibly delighted that the wheels of justice have started to turn. However, since Christy is never coming back, there can be no real justice in this case.
