Clea Shearer of The Home Edit, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, said on November 22 that she has completed radiation therapy and is cancer-free. This Thanksgiving, Clea Shearer has another reason to be thankful.
On November 22, the Home Edit co-founder announced that he is cancer-free. Clea posted several photos and videos of her last radiation treatment on Instagram, followed by a huge celebration.
Alongside the photos, which also show her hugging her husband John Shearer, she wrote: “I’m done.” Today marks the beginning of my transition from cancer patient to cancer survivor. Since I was able to ring the doorbell, I have not stopped crying. Clea, 40, who was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 8 and underwent a double mastectomy a month later, recalled her experience.
The professional organizer recalled: “I woke up 9 hours after surgery to find the cancer had entered my lymph nodes, which would mean chemotherapy and radiation were necessary. I had to undergo surgery again for necrosis seven days after trying to process the information. (my skin didn’t want to take it). But after the second procedure, I experienced amazingly good healing and made a full recovery. Clea started chemotherapy six weeks after treatment, noting that it consisted of “8 weeks of AC followed by 12 weeks of Taxol.”
I lived very difficult days, but surprisingly, I also had other pleasant ones. She remembered. “Advice from Top Chef, Zofran and armchairs. My body had stopped producing white blood cells when I finished chemotherapy on September 8, six weeks earlier, and the long-term damage wasn’t worth the additional treatments.
Clea started radiation therapy in October. She admitted: “I had some starts and stops.” “I had COVID (what really), late night sessions when no one was in the hospital, formal gown changes in the patient locker room, etc. I also had to deflate my left breast expander so the radiation beam could hit my right side.
