Part 2 ended with the death of Cobra Kai fighter Kwon (Brandon H. Lee) after falling on a knife during an all-out brawl at the Sekai Taikai Tournament. Co-creator Jon Hurwitz said The Hollywood Reporter in November that the final five episodes of Season 6 will “[explore] everyone’s reaction to what happened.”
“We intentionally ended this middle block with a lot of questions to be answered in the final block, and one of them is definitely: What will happen to this tournament and people’s opinion of karate in general?” Hurwitz added.
He also teased that the fates of the characters will be revealed.
“We’re looking forward to the resolution of the stories – and not every resolution is a happy ending, but it’s still a resolution,” he explained.

Although Macchio is sad to see the series end, he said during an appearance on View July 2024 that the end has come at the right time.
“I feel like it’s time to land the plane. When you overstay your welcome, it’s not always the best move,” he explained. “For me it’s not goodbye, see you next time. The fans will never allow that.”

In the same month, the creators Cobra Kai revealed that they’ve already started thinking about what’s next for Miyagi’s verse, and Hayden Schlossberg said The Hollywood Reporter that they are “absolutely” considering spinoffs.
“Cobra Kai itself is, in a way, a spinoff of The Karate Kid. … We feel like we could do that with any of the characters in the show. We’re thinking about the fun of following them in their future and, in addition, we’re thinking about the past,” he said.
“We spoke with Robert Marko Kamen, the writer of the original The Karate Kid. We talked to him about that whole Miyagi thing,” he continued. “Now that we’re done [with Cobra Kai]we can actually start getting into these things.”
