On Friday, January 10, the Australian pop star shared a sweet throwback video on Instagram to celebrate her 28th birthday.

Cody Simpson says he’s qualified for the Olympic swimming trials — and he’s getting praise from Michael Phelps
Although Simpson has made a career turn toward competitive swimming and qualified for the 2020 Olympic Swimming Trials, he’ll be switching gears again — this time in musical theater.
Per ABC News Breakfasthe is set to star in a new Australian production Guys and dolls in Sydney Harbour.
“I can’t wait,” he told the news outlet. “There was a lot of joking about it because the stage is on the water. I can’t seem to get away from the water. Not even when I’m performing.”
Simpson is slated to take on the lead role of Sky Masterson, famously played by Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra in the 1955 classic.
Taking on the role, the “Let Go” singer watched the “That’s Life” hitmaker practice his breathing technique by holding him underwater for long periods of time.
“It’s something I’ve been researching and reading about,” Simpson said. “He swam laps, held his breath.
He added: “We did a lot of things in my training, like hypoxic stuff, and I actually found that when I went back to singing, I almost had better capacity and strength even though I hadn’t sung for a long time for the better part of four years, I had all that lung training. ”

Cody Simpson opens up about ‘mutual’ breakup with Miley Cyrus: ‘No Hard Feelings’
For Simpson, getting a role in the Guys and dolls was on his list.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to do more after I retire from the pool and come right back,” he said. “Luckily, I already knew most of the songs even when I came to the audition, which was great. I didn’t have to learn the songs so much as I had to learn the scene, the script and start embodying the character of Sky.”
Simpson added: “Acting is about making your fantasies come true on stage, isn’t it? It’s just going to be an unreal kind of vibe and energy to bring to Sydney.”
