Coleen Rooney signs for I’m A Celeb in biggest deal in history as bosses hope she’ll spill secrets on Wayne & Wagatha

COLEEN Rooney has signed up for this year’s I’m A Celebrity — securing the biggest deal in the show’s history.

The 38-year-old Wag’s fee is thought to be far more than Nigel Farage’s £1.5m last year.

ITV bosses hope Coleen will open up about life with husband Wayne and her epic showdown with Rebecca Vardy.

A source said: “I’m A Celeb bosses have pulled off a major coup.”

Coleen is set to get the ultimate revenge on her Wagatha Christie rival Rebekah Vardy — by heading Down Under for I’m A Celebrity.

The wife of former England striker Wayne made a record deal to enter the jungle, from where Rebekah was kicked out in early 2017.

Sources say ITV bosses hope to reveal juicy details surrounding the campfire of her life with Wayne, as well as gossip from her public spat with Rebekah.

Coleen and her four boys are big fans of the show.

She will fly out next month to compete in the Bushtucker Trials.

A TV source told The Sun on Sunday: “I’m A Celeb bosses have made a big push to get Coleen into the jungle this year and the team are delighted to have her on board.

“She’s always been a huge fan of the show and loves watching it with her boys. ITV is great because the stars have aligned this year and she can fit right in. It’s going to be one of the best yet.

“Coleen has a huge fan base and has received huge praise for her classy handling of the Wagatha Christie case. She is excited to show fans another side of her and prove that she can survive without her creature comforts.”

Rebekah, 42, was the third camp friend to be eliminated in 2017.

Less than two years later, she was at the center of a major storm when Coleen accused Wag of leaking stories about her.

Coleen has also had her ups and downs with former Man United star Wayne, 38, who is now back in the UK after playing and training in the US.

The source continued: “The campfire chats will be the bomb because there is so much she could cover, from all the drama of the Wagath trial to her turbulent marriage to Wayne and his football career.

“She is expected to be very popular with viewers and could triumph over Becky again if she goes further in the competition than her.”

Coleen will be cheered on by her proud sons Kai (14), Klay (11), Kit (8) and Cass (6).

Wayne now splits his time between the family’s £20 million home in Cheshire and Devon, where he manages Championship side Plymouth Argyle.

The insider added: “Now that Wayne is no longer working in the US and the children are older, Coleen is freer to throw herself into business projects.

“She has an incredibly close-knit family, who can help look after the children while she’s away.

“Her boys will love watching her on the show. She’s not a fan of bugs and creepy crawlies or sleeping outdoors, but she’s up for the challenge and has great determination.”

The news comes days after the case with Wagatha was taken back to the High Court, with a furious Rebekah contesting her legal proposal.

She unsuccessfully sued her former friend for defamation after Coleen told her Twitter followers that she had become a detective to track down the source of the leak.

Coleen memorably caused a media frenzy by ending her bombshell announcement: “It’s . . . Rebecca Vardy’s Account.”

Rebekah denied responsibility amid furious backlash and sought legal action.

Even before the case reached the High Court, she branded Coleen’s budget “grotesque”.

She was then “devastated” when a judge ruled against her following a dramatic trial at the High Court in 2022, where she was joined by Leicester striker Jamie, 37.

She was ordered to pay 90 per cent of Coleen’s legal bill, which rose to £1.8 million from an allegedly agreed £540,000.

As we revealed earlier this week, it included the lawyer staying at a five-star London hotel, complete with a £225 food and drink tab.

Coleen, meanwhile, won praise for her calm handling of the Wagatha ordeal.

She picked up £3m from streaming giant Disney+ for the exclusive rights to a three-part documentary series about the court case.

She also graced the cover of Vogue magazine and landed a £1 million book deal.

Speaking last year, she said: “I can’t live in the past. Now it’s happened and I’m moving on. It will always be talked about. It’s part of my life. You can’t go wrong if you’re telling the truth.”

Coleen became a star at just 16 when her then boyfriend, Everton ace Wayne, became England’s most promising football talent.

Liverpool-born Coleen has always spoken of her strong roots. She recalled: “It was always important for me to have good people around me.

“Having been in the limelight since I was 16, looking back on it now, my oldest is almost 15. I didn’t think that was young at the time, but it was very young. I don’t know if I would have lasted without a strong unit around me.”

In 2016, when her children were much younger, Coleen revealed that she always turned down offers from reality shows — but if she did, it would be on I’m A Celebrity.

She said: “They keep asking me but I always say no. Such reality shows are mass, they ask a lot of people to enter them, but I never wanted that.

“Some time ago I was asked in an interview if I would ever participate in a celebrity show.

“It’s not that I said I would make one, but which one would I choose if I had to. It would be I’m a Celebrity. But I probably would never have done the show.”

She will join a star-studded line-up which reportedly includes boxer Tommy Fury, Rangers hero Ally McCoist, former Strictly dancer Oti Mabusa and Corrie’s Alan Halsall.

An ITV spokesman said: “All names suggested for I’m A Celebrity are speculation.”
