Colin Farrell Says He’ll 'Catch Up' on The Sopranos, Breaking Bad and The Wire 'When I Grow Up'

Colin Farrell has some catching up to do in classic TV dramas!

As I spoke to the press, including PEOPLE at the film’s New York premiere Penguin on Tuesday, September 17, Farrell was told that his portrayal of Gotham City villain Oswald “Oz” Cobb has been compared to The Soprano family. Farrell, 48, first played the character in 2022 Batman.

“I’ve only seen two episodes. imam The Sopranosimam Breaking Bad and one day when I grow up, I am Wire catch up, and those are the three that I think of when I think of great television,” Farrell said at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The Golden Globe winner added that it’s a compliment that his work is being compared to the mafia crime drama that ran for six seasons starting in 1999.

“It kind of changed the face of television in their time and opened up opportunities for other shows,” Farrell said.

“So what do I think of when I hear these comparisons? Nothing but compliments,” he continued. “You know, so many people appreciate them and love them deeply. So that’s — those are great comparisons. I think there are worse things you can do.”

Farrell previously admitted during an appearance on 2022 The Ellen DeGeneres Show that his two sons do not have much interest in his work.

“They’ve had enough of me being a villain,” he said then. “Which apparently, reading between the lines, leads me to believe they think I’m fine.”

IN PenguinFarrell went through drastic changes to become the famous antagonist.

“Do you ever see cats looking at themselves in the mirror? They simply don’t know how to back down [it’s them]?” he told PEOPLE and other media outlets about his on-screen appearance, adding, “It was weird.”

“It’s not that I ever completely lost my sense of self, but it was a very powerful thing to know myself in a certain way for 45 years and see a reflection. And it also kind of made me aware of how much I identified with how I looked,” he continued.
