Colin Jost’s wife, Scarlett Johansson, may be the best sport in the world.
The Weekend update co-host found himself in the hot seat during the Christmas episode Saturday night livewhen his co-host Michael Che made him crack jokes about his A-list wife as Johansson, 40, watched from backstage.
“Do you have a problem with Scarlett?” Jimmy Fallon asked Jost on his appearance on Monday, January 20th Tonight’s show.
“I’m in trouble, I think, with a lot of people,” joked Jost, 42, noting, “Scarlett was genuinely so shocked.”

He went on to say that although he didn’t get to see the jokes beforehand, SNL the team issued an R-rated content “warning” to his wife.
“They were like, ‘Hey, would you be okay with Michael making a little, like, vagina joke at some point?'” Jost recounted. “She said, ‘Sure, whatever, I’m open to it.’ I didn’t know where it was going.”
But things move on SNL it came to a head when the show flashed a picture of a roast beef sandwich from Costco on the screen.
“Scarlett said backstage, ‘Oh my God, it is what is that!’” Jost laughed, adding that his response to the entire exchange was honest. “I can’t act that well.”

During the Christmas episode SNLJost and Che have a tradition of exchanging jokes that they write to each other and then the other has to read them out loud. In this year’s episode, which aired on December 21, most of the Che was about Jostov The Avengers star wife.

“I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost read. “Hey boo, you all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means I’m about to get out of there.”
The couple, who got married in 2020, have a son, Cosmo (3). The actress also shares a daughter, Rose, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
“He’s a good guy… He’s a really, really, really great guy. I’m extremely happy,” Johansson said of Jost during a November 2024 appearance Living with Kelly and Mark. “He’s a lovely person and he’s funny and thoughtful and loving and he’s a great dad and I love him. I feel very, very happy. But he also has his bad side. He makes it interesting.”
