Common Teases His Romance with Jennifer Hudson: ‘This Relationship Is a Happy Place’

Love is in the air for Jennifer Hudson and Common!

The couple seemingly confirmed their relationship in a preview episode of Hudson’s hit Fox talk show on Monday, Show Jennifer Hudson.

In the clip, Hudson, 42, introduced Common, 51, with a rap before stepping out for the segment, presenting her with a large bouquet of flowers.

“Now we have to get down to business Mr. Common. I’m the host and I have to ask you this question because everyone always wants to know this – are you dating anyone?” she asked him at the beginning of their interview.

The Suicide Squad star laughed before replying that he is actually dating someone. Although he didn’t say Hudson’s name, they all joined in on the teasing.

“I’m in a relationship with one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met in my life,” he said. “She’s smart, she loves God, she’s got something really down-to-earth about her, she’s talented.”

Common joked that he set high standards and wanted his partner to be an EGOT winner. Hudson received the honor in 2022 when she won a Tony Award for the production A strange loop.

Common then threw the question back at Dream girls star, who said she was “very happy” in her relationship and asked him if he was happy in his.

“This relationship is a happy place for me,” Common replied. “Seeing her happy actually makes me really happy. So I’m very grateful. I thank God every day and I just let God guide this relationship.”

Common and Hudson first sparked dating rumors in 2022 when the Chicago natives were spotted together in their hometown.

However, Hudson refused to confirm the speculation in a September 2022 interview Party tonight.

“People create their own stories about it and it’s like, OK, you know, how do you feel,” she told the newspaper at the time. “We shot the film together, and [Common] played my husband. We have to eat between those moments.” The movie she’s referring to is an upcoming thriller Breathe.

Since then, the couple has been seen together several times, sometimes holding hands.

They recently watched a basketball game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on January 17th.
