Tragic details of a “distraught” father’s phone call before he was found dead along with his two children and a wife have been revealed.

Norfolk Police are now being investigated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after it emerged they failed to send officers to a home in Costessey when Bartlomiej called 911.

Instead, officers went to the home where the tragic discovery was made when a dog walker raised concerns an hour later.

Details of the dad’s 999 call have now been revealed by a police chief.

It said: “During that call the man expressed concern about his mental state saying he was confused.

“He was advised to seek medical advice, but the police did not come.

“Around 7am, police received a call from a dog walker concerned for the welfare of those in the home.

“Officers arrived shortly afterwards and sadly found a man, woman and two children dead.”

The horror unfolded on Friday morning when the police forcefully entered the property.

Bartlomiej died from a single stab wound to the neck, while Kanticha suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck.

An autopsy will be performed on the two young girls tomorrow.

Kanticha was visiting her sister’s family home from her native Thailand when she was found dead.

The children’s mum was at work as a carer when the tragic discovery was made, according to friends.

Norfolk Police previously revealed they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

The IOPC is also investigating previous contact with the family following a missing person investigation at the home on December 14.

Norfolk’s chief constable, Paul Sanford, said in a statement on Monday: “It is only right that when there are questions about our response, they are properly investigated, and I fully support and welcome this inquiry.

“I will not wait for the outcome of this investigation to review our work practices and that process has begun.

“I have today asked the Inspectorate to consider undertaking a more in-depth audit than the extensive inspection already planned, in order to provide the reassurance that the public and I need in our response to emergency calls.”

How the mystery still remains over the quadruple tragedy

QUESTIONS about how the four deaths happened after it was revealed dad Bartlomiej called 911 have been mounting.

Despite warnings from officers about his mental state, he was told to seek medical advice.

Here are some unanswered questions that remain connected to the tragedy.

Why didn’t the police respond to the call?

Norfolk Police have still not confirmed why they did not send officers to the home when Bartlomiej raised concerns.

He told 999 he was “worried” about his mental state and was “confused”.

The IOPC is now investigating why that call was ignored.

In another IOPC instruction, it was revealed that the police had previous contact with the family before the tragedy.

Police officers confirmed that it was in connection with a missing person investigation on December 14.

Bartlomiej was reported missing, but was later found wandering in the woods.

Why did the police only respond to the second call?

The alarm was raised an hour after the initial 999 call when a dog walker raised concerns for the welfare of the people inside.

It is not yet clear why that phone call was answered and the dad was ignored.
