Courtney B. Vance and Angela Bassett’s children may be on their way to join the family business.
The The Land of Lovecraft star, 63, stopped by the 18th Annual Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, when he spoke exclusively with PEOPLE on the red carpet about his and his children’s potential in acting.
When asked if twins Bronwyn and Slater, 18, have already been bitten by the acting bug, Vance said it might just be a matter of time.
“I think they could find it in college, so I think it could happen,” the actor said. “They’re going to explore all kinds of things there, as we know.”
“I’m excited for them. I’m really excited to see where they go and what they do,” he added. “They are ready. They are more than ready.”

Vance, who has been married to Bassett, 65, since 1997, also noted that their children don’t care as much about how famous their parents are.
“I think their mom and dad are just a lot of people who have parents who are famous or infamous,” he said of the twins. “… But, when a Black panther or something like that happens, or an honorary Oscar [their mother received], they were there and mom made them stand up and be recognized. It’s something that happens once in a lifetime.”
“I think it will hit them later,” he continued.

Speaking about how the couple spends their time while their children prepare to go off to college, Vance revealed that Bassett currently has a favorite reality show.
“She loves watching her shows,” Vance said. “… Shows like Love is blind and things like that. It’s just meaningless stuff, and we’re going to see plays. We love going to New York and seeing plays.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the actor also talked about how he and Bassett don’t let awards wins or losses affect their craft.
“We look at it and we’re the same people when they like us, when they want us and when they don’t,” Vance told PEOPLE. “So we just keep moving. In the end, the world comes around you and then one moment you’re hot, the next you’re a little lukewarm, but you’re still you.”
