The father of a 10 -year -old boy who was injured by flying debris after a deadly plane crash in northeast Philadelphia revealed the first word of his son after passing the brain surgery.
Andre “Trey” Howard III was injured on Friday, January 31, when a medical transport jet broke down the Roosevelt Market Center, injuring at least 24 people and killing seven, including all six passengers on board and one person on the ground.
Trey hit the head with a metal and was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was undergoing brain surgery. The young man’s family was informed that “there was a great chance that they might not survive.”
But miracle, he woke up and quickly wondered about two burning things: the safety of his sister and the upcoming Super Bowl between Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

At the time of the accident, Trey and his younger siblings, at the age of 4 and 7, were in the car and his father picked up donuts. “It sounded like a rocket shot bullets, metal in my car, all other cars,” Andre told the ABC6. “You see a car on fire, a man walking in the fire. It was just crazy.”

Andre then tried to stop the bleeding with a couple of used socks and another man’s shirt. Police then took the boy and his family to the hospital, where he received an emergency surgery.
“They did a+ job on my son. Praise God, they did a great job,” Andre said about his son’s surgery.
Andre added that he was “bitter” that Trey saved his sister. “I’m glad he listened, but it’s my job, not his job, to protect his sister,” Andre said.
