Dan McCafferty The Lead Singer Of Nazareth Band Passed Away At The Age Of 76

Dan McCafferty, popular vocalist and lead singer of the hard rock band Nazareth, died on November 8, 2022, at the age of 76. Pete Agnew, a member of his band, announced the news on Facebook, writing:

“Dan died today at 12:40 p.m. This is the most heartbreaking news I’ve ever had to make. Maryann and her family have lost a lovely, loving husband and father; I have lost my dearest friend, and the world has lost one of the greatest vocalists of all time. I’m too sad to say anything more right now.”

McCafferty was a member of Nazareth from its inception in 1968 until his retirement in 2013.

Dan McCafferty announced his retirement from touring due to health difficulties.

Dan McCafferty passed away on Tuesday (November 8), and although his bandmate Pete broke the news on social media, he did not mention the cause of death. McCafferty had various health difficulties, but it is unclear whether these had a factor in his death.

McCafferty quit traveling with Nazareth in August 2013 due to health difficulties. Dan revealed his health issues to the UK music magazine Classic Rock and verified that he never had a stroke, as previously reported in the press. Dan said that in the same year (2013), he fainted onstage during a performance in Canada because of ruptured stomach cancer. When asked about the event, he replied he assumed he’d be alright, but individuals lose a lot of blood when that occurs.
