Dana Carvey is an American stand-up comedian, actor and producer who is happily married. He has been married to his wife Paula Zwagerman for more than 37 years. Apart from being a married couple, the couple is also the happy parents of two children, Dex Carvey and Thomas Carvey. After his children were born, he left Hollywood and removed his children from the limelight. But why did he make that choice?

During the 1990s, Dana was at the top of his profession, so much so that he had to leave his house for months at a time. On the other hand, Carvey did not want to leave the family after the children were born. Dex, his first son, was born in 1991, and his second son was born in 1993. He found it strange to entrust the children to a nanny. As a result, the actor accompanied the children to all the film sets he worked on.
The comedian once brought his children to the set of the film Trapped in Paradise. In an interview with Looper, he said that he could not leave them because of his illness. One young man had many ear infections, while the other had the flu. I would sleep for a few hours and then try to entertain one of my boys in the basement by pulling this stroller. It was inconvenient for him to take the children to the sets. Carvey described the amusing phenomenon in a 2009 interview with the AV Club. He said that on the set of Wayne’s World 2, one of his sons came up to him, told him he didn’t have weird hair and sobbed. These two experiences made him realize how important it is to give his full attention to his family. So he left Hollywood and moved to Northern California with his family.

Sons follow in his footsteps
Although the Wayne’s World actor has kept his children, Dex and Thomas Carvey, away from Hollywood and the limelight, his boys have shown an interest in stand-up comedy. When Carvey recognized his children’s talent, he moved to Los Angeles and helped them launch their own comedy careers.
Now he is proud of his boys and constantly discusses their progress. For example, on December 2, 2016, in The Secret Life of Pets, voice actor Kevin Smith shared a video of his son Dex from his Netflix special. Meanwhile, on September 12, 2018, Dana and his two boys were seen together on stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse for the “Humans Are Fantastic” tour, which was part of the Barts Tree Service Comedy Series. Dana’s sons, Dex and Thomas, in addition to being comedians, stream on Twitch. They run The Carvey Brothers, a collaborative Twitch channel. Dex is also Twitch.TV partnered with broadcasters since 2017.

Dana was Dana’s birth name. Thomas Carvey, an American actor and comedian, changed his marriage vows twice in his life. He first married Leah Carvey in 1979. They divorced in 1980. Dana married his current wife, Paula Zwagerman, three years after divorcing his first wife. The couple has been together ever since. Dana’s wife, Paula, is often seen with her husband at award shows such as the annual American Comedy Awards and the Academy Awards. They attended the 91st Academy Awards on February 24, 2019 in Hollywood, California. Dana’s choice to leave Hollywood to focus on his family paid off as his children wanted to be comedians.
