Police found a convicted child sex offender who escaped from a hospital in St. Petersburg on Thursday morning.
On Thursday evening around 20:00 local time, Police of the district of St. Louis posted on Xofficially known as Twitter, that Tommy Wayne Boyd was caught on the 7300 block of Watson Road in St. Louis, Mo.
Boyd, 45, was being treated at Mercy Hospital South when he walked out of the medical center. While he was in the hospital, he was accompanied by two prison officers. He was last seen by hospital staff at 3:54 a.m. local time Thursday morning, and authorities speculated that he fled the hospital at 4:30 a.m. in an unknown direction.
According to NBC 5 On your side, the inmate escaped while one of the corrections officers was asleep and the other went to the bathroom. The offender managed to take the keys to his handcuffs from the sleeping guard.

The convicted sex offender against children is a prisoner in the Potosi correctional institution. According to online records, Boyd is serving a 30-year sentence for child molestation.
He was placed on the Missouri sex offender registry after being convicted of statutory sodomy. Boyd committed statutory sodomy in 1996 in Springfield, Missouri. He was 18 years old and his victim was an 11-year-old boy, ABC News reported.

At the start of the manhunt, police classified Boyd as “dangerously.”
“We urge residents to remain vigilant as our officers search for Mr. Boyd,” St. Louis County Police wrote. x. “Make sure your homes and garages are secure. Watch children at bus stops.”
Missouri schools, The Mehlville School and Lindbergh Schools, released statements notifying students and their families that they will be implementing lockdown procedures. Schools remained in session and only indoors, but all additional extracurricular activities were cancelled. Schools have announced that everything will return to normal for classes on Fridays.
During the pursuit, the St announced that they were looking for Boyd with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, State Department of Corrections, US Marshals Service, Special Response Unit, K-9 Unit and Metro Air Support.

In addition to the official police statement, Mercy Hospital released a statement during the manhunt. “The police searched [the] campus and our security team searched all buildings on campus and found no evidence that he is still here,” the official statement said. “We continue to assist the St. Louis County Police Department. Louis in search and investigation.”
After Boyd was arrested, police tweeted: “Thank you to the media and our community who provided numerous tips to help locate this dangerous criminal. Our residents are safer tonight with Boyd in custody.”
