Daniel Khalife’s escape from HM Prison Wandsworth took place on 6 September 2023. He was dressed in a chef’s uniform, which included a white short-sleeved shirt, red and white checked trousers and brown steel-toed boots, as he worked in the prison kitchen. As the BBC reports, he escaped by bracing himself against the bottom of a food delivery van. The van left the facility at 7:30 a.m. and at 7:50 a.m. emergency measures were initiated for the “unknown inmate,” including locking down the prison and notifying the police. The escape triggered a police search and increased security measures at UK ports and airports. As of September 7, 2023, Khalifa has not been arrested.
