Marvel Cinematic Universe star Charlie Cox looks back on Daredevil: ResurgenceWhile it has become one of the most anticipated TV shows in the MCU timeline, the journey to a sequel for the critically acclaimed Netflix show hasn’t been an easy one. Daredevil: Resurgence was one of the bigger MCU projects to make headlines in 2023, when it was revealed that Marvel Studios had dropped the original creative team in an effort to restructure the series.
This weekend, Screen Rant Joe Deckelmeier moderated Cox’s panel at FanExpo Chicago, where the British actor talked about his past, present, and future in the MCU. At one point, a fan asked Daredevil: Resurgence Creative overhaul, can Cox go into more depth about the changes coming to 2023. When asked what he thought of the content that was originally filmed before all the changes in the new creative direction, Cox said:
I’m not actually going to answer that question because it’s more complicated. I’ve read online about how the information was received, and the truth is it’s much more complicated than that. A lot of the footage we shot before the attack is amazing and is still in the show and it works really well. There are just some complications around the missions we were given and what we found worked and didn’t work.
I hate to answer that question and then make the impression that what people were doing before they made the change was either bad or wrong. It’s more complicated than that. I would say that Marvel deserves credit for looking at these episodes and acknowledging that we could still do better and that we might need to go in a slightly different direction. That’s what it is; we’re lucky to work for a company that was willing to do that and spend more money to make it happen. But we feel really good about where we ended up.

What Daredevil: Rebirth’s Creative Overhaul Means for Future Marvel Studios TV Shows
Even though things are complicated Daredevil: Resurgence Having to start over from scratch may be the best move, not only for the show but for the future of Marvel TV. One of the big problems Marvel Studios faced with the several MCU TV shows that aired on Disney+ was that it didn’t look like a normal TV show, but a movie that was split into six parts. But when Daredevil: Resurgence A creative overhaul was undertaken as the first step in correcting course, including finding a showrunner who would have to conceive a traditional series bible, ideally to run for multiple seasons.
It’s also important to remember that Marvel Studios is trying to give audiences more freedom by making these shows less dependent on whether or not the audience has seen every movie and TV show before the next project. Rising Star Once the TV series is successfully launched, it will ideally be a show that any general audience can watch, even if they missed some of the MCU projects. The same applies to Daredevil: Resurgencethose who haven’t seen Cox’s work on Netflix Daredevil series, She-Hulk: Lawyeror echothe 2025 exhibition can be used as a starting point.
This may also be the case that Marvel Films is aiming for Imagine The TV show is set to premiere in 2026, ensuring that newly appointed showrunner Terry Matalas has the season properly produced before the show goes live. It’s also worth remembering that the original Marvel TV era was so successful in large part because they were allowed to air in a traditional TV format and had more freedom. Hopefully as things develop Daredevil: Resurgencethe next MCU TV series will be able to follow the new standard that Cox’s series set for Marvel Studios.
