Darren Kent dead: ‘Exceptional’ Game of Thrones star dies aged 36 after long health battle

TRIBUTES have poured in for Brit Game of Thrones star Darren Kent who has died aged 36.

Darren – who played a goatherd from Slavers Bay in the HBO hit series – died last week following a long health battle.

During his career, the actor, from Southend, Essex, appeared alongside Kristen Stewart in Snow White & the Huntsman.

He also played Scott the builder in two episodes of Eastenders.

Pal and Joseph’s Technical Colour Dreamcoat actor Lee Mead said Darren – who appeared in ‘The Children’ episode of Game of Thrones – was an “amazing human being”.

Speaking of his “special” friend, he added: “Always giving of his time to people and always so positive.

“A fine actor too and he achieved so much as well. Such heartbreaking news.”

And Penni Bubb, who founded Essex-based Mushroom Theatre Company, where Darren was a patron, paid tribute to a “lovely man”.

She said: “Darren was a very supportive, generous and lovely man.

“He thoroughly enjoyed spending his time with us and performing for our students – especially when he used to sing for them!

“We are going to miss our much-loved patron so much, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this terribly sad time.”

During his career Darren won Best Actor in the Van D’Or Awards for his role in Sunnyboy, which was filmed in Essex.
