David Beckham Launches New Fragrance Trio Inspired by His ‘Journeys Around the World’

You might not be able to bend it like David Beckham, but you can smell like him.

The football superstar and entrepreneur has launched three new fragrances as part of The David Beckham collection, all inspired by his experiences traveling the world.

“It’s very personal to me,” Beckham said of the creation of the new trio at a recent event in New York to celebrate the launch. “With these three fragrances, it’s about my travels around the world and different places I’ve lived and different memories – I think that’s what fragrances are like.”

For Beckham, fragrance is very much rooted in nostalgia, and the new additions to his fragrance portfolio evoke many incredible memories.

“[Fragrance] it brings you back to the moment and a great memory,” he said, “to me, that’s what this is all about.”

Infinite Aqua, a “fresh, watery” fragrance, was inspired by Beckham “riding his motorbike on the Pacific Coast Highway and smelling the sea air”.

Refined Woods is influenced by his “love of the open road to explore different landscapes, cultures and cuisines.”

And the most personal of the three, Aromatic Greens, is a “woody” fragrance that speaks “of the UK countryside”, where Beckham spends as much time as possible with his family.

Beckham has teamed up again with legacy cosmetics company Coty for the new launch, saying of the relationship: “It’s more than just a partnership, it’s a family.”

Stefano Curti, Director of Consumer Beauty Brands at Coty, noted at the event that the relationship with Beckham is one of “longevity.”

The star’s new fragrances come on the heels of his documentary, which shot to the top of Netflix’s streaming charts.

He told guests at the event that he was “honored” to work with Netflix and Beckham directed by Fisher Stevens.

“It was a series that took me a while to come to terms with filming and talking about my life,” Beckham said. “And ten years ago when I retired from playing football people asked me to do it and I wasn’t ready to look back and talk about my career and my life.”

The retired soccer star, who now owns Inter Miami FC, said he “was ready to move on immediately” after his retirement to focus on his business endeavors.

“But then about two or three years before the 10th anniversary of my retirement, I thought, okay, maybe now is a good time to tell the story,” Beckham explained.

After finding “the right team” in Stevens and Netflix to produce the project, Beckham said the 50-plus hour shoot over more than two years was “one hell of a journey.”

He added: “It hasn’t been easy and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster over the last two and a half years, but I think we’ve produced something that my team can be very proud of.”
