Now that Henry Cavill has hung up his cape, David Corenswet is stepping into the role of DC’s Superman. Following in the footsteps of Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill, the 29-year-old will transform into everyone’s favorite Kryptonian in James Gunn’s long-awaited film, Superman: Legacy.
Slated for a 2025 release, fans will have to wait a little longer to see David’s portrayal of Clark Kent, as well as Rachel Brosnahan’s portrayal of Lois Lane. But in the meantime, we’re introduced to the man of the moment – DC’s Rising Superman – David Corenswet. Here’s everything you need to know about him…
What movie does David Corenswet play in?
David Corenswet has been in acting for many years. As a child, the aspiring actor spent time in professional stage plays, including Arthur Miller’s ‘All My Sons’ and Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’.

Growing up, David was also a big fan of classic Hollywood cinema, the movie he was obsessed with. Star Wars But also. “My parents raised us to watch a lot of old movies,” he told MTV 2020.
“So we grew up watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn and Singin’ in the Rain dozens of times. We love comedy. It’s all we watch. We don’t. If we have cable, we’re not allowed to watch television, but we can watch those movies as much as we want.”

For his love for Star WarsDavid reflected, “I remember renting VHS tapes at Blockbuster. It was rent one, get one free for a week, and I rented Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. I would watch one after another. “
He added, “I spent a lot of time alone in my basement posing as a Jedi. It really appealed to me. I started acting directly on that.”

After graduating from Juilliard in 2016, David joined the cast of the political thriller, State work (2018), as well as a cameo in Card Tower, CommunicationAnd Instinct. However, it’s Netflix’s Politicians (2019-2020) has really put David on the map. Co-starring with Ben Platt, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Lange, David played River Barkley in the first and second seasons of the comedy.
After joining the show, David added likes hollywood (2020), Look both ways (2022) and Pearl (2022) to his ever-expanding resume.

While Superman: Legacy will become his latest project, David is currently filming twisting machine — a sequel to the 1996 film Twister — starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glenn Powell and Anthony Ramos. The end of production is expected in July.
Is David Corenswet in a relationship?
Currently, David seems to be single. The 29-year-old is very tight-lipped about his personal life and has refrained from commenting on his relationship status in previous interviews.

Technically, though, there’s one special person in David’s life – his adorable Cavalier King Charles spaniel, who pops up on his Instagram feed. The actor has yet to reveal his dog’s name, but it looks like he carries the adorable dog everywhere – it’s so cute!
