David Dobrik starts the new year by marking a personal milestone.
On Tuesday, January 7, the 28-year-old influencer celebrated uploading his first YouTube video in nearly three years by giving his fans a look at his year-long fitness transformation that gave him his abs.
The vlogger last posted a YouTube video in March 2022 amid controversy surrounding former Vlog Squad member Jeff Wittek’s near-fatal injuries after a stunt went wrong. In his new post on Instagram, next to his before and after, Dobrik wrote: “New year, new me, new vlog.”

“I cannot be more grateful to the people around me who encouraged me to be a better version of myself this year. I owe everything to all my friends, and especially to Ilya who literally changed my life,” he wrote. “I love you old man. I don’t want pudding anymore!!!!”
He followed up the photo by posting a video (shared on Instagram and TikTok) of himself looking at his body before the physical transformation. The video then cuts to a clip of him grinning from ear to ear as he looks at his new, ripped physique.

As for why he decided to embark on his fitness journey, Dobrik explained in his new YouTube video (which featured appearances by celebrities as diverse as Josh Peck, Corinne Kopf, Olivia Jade Giannulli, Noah Beck, Harry Jowsey and Dixie D’Amelio) that his transformation was part of a bet with MrBeast.
“We’re betting — like it’s the beginning of the year — that if they don’t take him away, he’ll have to buy 20,000 Feastable bars,” MrBeast said while talking to Dobriko’s best friend and fitness expert Ilya Fedorovich.

Since Fedorovich, who founded Xeela Fitness, helped Dobrik on his journey, MrBeast awarded him a new car.
“You helped the team get kidnapped and you were very selfless, so it’s time you got something,” MrBeast told him.
In a separate video shared by Xeela Fitness, Dobrik further explained why he wanted to make the change after realizing where his health had gone.
“This is the moment I realize I need to make some health changes,” he said in a December 2023 clip included in the video. “This is crazy that I look like this. I don’t know what happened. I never, ever took my health seriously. I always said to myself, like, ‘next month. Next year. When I’m done with this vlog the vlog.’ ”

“That’s enough,” continued Dobrik. – I have no more excuses.
According to the video, Dobrik reduced his body fat from 27.8 percent to 13.1 percent, gaining 10.5 kilograms of muscle during his journey.
