Gaskell died after a short illness

The segment was: “Manchester United is sad about the death of our former goalkeeper David Gaskell, a special place in the club’s history.”

The news of Gaskell’s death was confirmed by his family to the club, who gave a touching honor.

They said, “Dave was dedicated to his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.

“He was the proud father of his three daughters, Michelle, Lesley and Nicola, and a grandfather full of love to Joel, Emily, Eleanor, Ted and Edith.

“His family was his greatest joy and his legacy will live through them.

“In these few weeks of illness, Dave has been surrounded by the love and support of the many friends he has gained throughout his life – friends who, like many in Wrexham and beyond, will be very missing.

“Dave Gaskell leaves not only extraordinary sports heritage, but also a lasting example of kindness, dedication and humility.

“He will miss deeply, but he will be glad to remember everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Gaskell was part of Busby Babesdi: Well

Old Trafford’s believers quickly paid tribute to the late Gaskell, and one wrote on the x: “Take a break! Your job is done.”

Another said, “Rest in peace champion. Once a Red, Away a order.”

And the other said, “Rip.”

One noticed, “This is so sad, let his soul rest in peace.”

Gaskell – who was one of the legendary Busby Babes – has made a total of 96 appearances for United over 12 years of stay at the club.

He went in history in his debut against Manchester City in October 1956. Becoming the youngest club player.

Gaskell was 16 years old and 19 days when he played in Fa Charity Shield in 1956, who got United 1-0.

His view at the Manchester derby led him to the fact that Sir Matt Busby immediately improved him to the first team.

He spent 11 seasons with United before moving to Wigan Athletic.

Gaskwell would then enjoy the spells with Wrexham and Arcadia Shepherds – which proved to be his last club – after one season of stay in The Latic.
