The Age and Early Life of David Jeremiah
David Jeremiah was born on February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio. As of 2024, he is 83 years old. When he was eleven, his family moved to Dayton, Ohio, where his father became the pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. In 1953, his father was named president of Cedarville College (now Cedarville University), and the family moved to Cedarville, Ohio.
Jeremiah graduated from Cedarville in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, the same year he married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson. He earned a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967 and further graduate studies from Grace Seminary in 1972. In 1981, Cedarville awarded him an honorary Doctor of Theology degree.

Career
Ruby and James T. Jeremiah born Jeremiah founded Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1969 and Blackhawk Christian School in 1973. He also created and debuted The Bible Hour that year, gaining expertise in using the mass media of television to proclaim the Gospel. During his 12-year tenure as lead pastor at Blackhawk, the church grew from seven families to 1,300 people.
In 1981, the Jeremiah family, which had grown to four children, moved to Southern California, where David Jeremiah took over as senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church (now Shadow Mountain Community Church) from Tim LaHaye. Jeremiah was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1994 and again in 1998. In 1999, he had a lump on his neck surgically removed and underwent stem cell transplant treatment. His book, When Your World Falls Apart, describes his experiences during this period.
