Ali Stroker and David Perlow met in college and met again in 2015 at Deaf West Theatre’s Spring Awakening. Stroker recently told a news source that Perlow is stunning. Stroker was confined to a wheelchair after suffering a spinal injury in a car accident when she was two years old. It was Perlow who stood by her side when she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, the only actress in a wheelchair to do so.
Stroker remembered this and said:
“He was extremely kind with the Tonys, asking me whose side I wanted him on for the photos. I look at those photos and think, ‘That’s my dream.’ To discover this companion who wants to be with me and is delighted with me.’ To get to this point in my profession and to have this relationship means a lot to me.”
Stroker made her solo debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC and Town Hall in New York, as well as at the Lincoln Center in New York. The 35-year-old has starred in films such as I Was a Mermaid and Now I’m a Pop Star and Cotton, as well as television series such as The Glee Project, Ten Days in the Valley, Blue Bloods and more.
