Former James Madison tight end Deane Cheatham has tragically died in a car accident at the age of 30 in Hanover County. The 30-year-old athlete was driving northbound on Route 301 when his vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
The JMU community, including head coach Curt Cignetti and Cheatham’s former teammates, offered their condolences and shared heartfelt tributes to honor his memory.
During his time at JMU, Cheatham showcased his skills as a talented tight end, earning second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors in 2015. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
