Debshankar Haldar or Debsankar Halder is a Bengali theatre and film actor. He has worked with many popular Bengali theatre groups including ‘Nandikar’, ‘Rangapat’, ‘Natyaranga’, ‘Sudrak’, ‘Gandhar’, ‘Bratyajon’, ‘Sansriti’ and ‘Blank Verse’.

Debshankar Haldar was born on Friday, January 8, 1965 (55 years old in 2020) in Kolkata. His star sign is Capricorn. He graduated from the Scottish Church College, Calcutta University. While in college, Haldar was a part of student politics. Since his father was a Bengali actor, he introduced Debshankar to the world of theatre. In 1986, he attended an acting workshop organized by Nandikar. During the workshop, he became very involved in acting and decided to become a theatre artist.

Profession
Debshankar started his career as a theatre artist with Nandika Theatre Company in 1987. As a part of Nandika Theatre Company, Debshankar performed in plays like Shesh Shakkhatkar, Gotroheen, Football, Nagar Kirtan and Jaha Chai. He later performed in plays like Winkle Twinkle (Sansriti), Virus M (Gonokrishti), Shajahan (Natyaranga), Furrut (Blank Verse), Topi (Story Teller) and Romcom (Lokkrishti) with other theatre companies.
Debshankar also appeared in many Bengali films like Drishyantar, Kalkijug, Accident, Alik Sukh, Arundhati and Maya Mridanga.
Besides acting, Debshankar has written and directed more than 40 children’s plays, including Bhalo Manush Noigo Mora.
