Dec Donnelly solves problem of ‘eyesore’ property ruining views at £7million mansion

TV presenter Dec Donnelly has solved the “eyesore” property problem next to his £7m mansion – by buying it for £2.25m.

The I’m A Celebrity host spent a fortune transforming his apartment into a dream home with a pool, steam room, cinema and poolside kitchen.

But the adjoining semi-detached property converted into flats has fallen into disrepair.

So Dec, 48, bought it for himself and now plans to restore it.

Documents published online show that Dec and his 45-year-old wife Ali Astall have applied to build a side and rear single-storey house on a west London property.

Dec’s TV partner Ant McPartlin also lived nearby but left the area after his marriage failed.

A source said: “The street where Dec lives is very posh and lined with large detached houses and his place is one of the most impressive mansions out there.

“But other neighbors took less care of their properties and one bang in Dec’s neighborhood was allowed to become a bit of a thorn in their side.

“Most people would have had to live with it and see it go down, but Dec took the initiative and grabbed it when it hit the market.

“The frontage is already secured and boarded up ready for rebuilding, and the planning application has been submitted.

“And if it’s a patch in Dec’s place when it’s done, it’ll be a great investment.”

It is not clear whether the couple plans to move family members into the new home or sell it for a profit once the renovations are complete.
