Deven Verma is an Indian actor, director and producer known for his comedy roles in many Hindi films such as Chori Mera Kaam, Angoor, Gol Maal and “Chor Ke Ghar Chor”. He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 78.

Deven Verma was born on Saturday, October 30, 1937 in Kutch, Gujarat (died aged 77). He grew up in Pune and studied at Norothy Givadia College of Arts and Sciences (University of Pune) from 1953 to 1957; he received an honors degree in political science and sociology from the college. According to reports, he also studied law at the Government College of Law, Bombay; however, he left midway.

Deven Verma has appeared in approximately 149 movies. He started his acting career in 1961 with the Bollywood film Dharmputra; the film ultimately failed. In an interview, Devon Verma talked about his debut film Dharmputra. He said,

After Dharamputra, I went abroad to do stage performances. Dharamputra failed. I was in Mauritius and Shashi (Kapoor) sent me a letter saying, “The photo failed and no one knows why.”

His comedy role in Chori Mera Kaam (1975) was a hit, earning him critical acclaim for his performance. He later appeared in a number of popular films and was critically acclaimed for his comedy roles, and by the 1970s he had become a well-known actor in Bollywood. During this period, he appeared in many popular films, including “Jewish” (1980) and “Ungor” (1982).
