Devendra Fadnavis is a politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra and served from 2014 to 2019.

Devendra Fadnavis was born into a Brahmin family. His father Gangadharrao Fadnavis is a famous politician in Maharashtra. His mother Sarita Fadnavis is the director of Vidarbha Housing Credit Society. His elder brother Ashish Fadnavis is a businessman.
On November 17, 2005, he married Amruta Fadnavis, a bank manager, social activist and singer. They have a daughter named Divija Fadnavis.

Devendra Fadnavis joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the mid-nineties. When Fadnavis was in college, he was an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and affiliated with the ABVP. In 1989, he served as the constituency president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJYM). In 1990, he contested his first municipal election from Ram Nagar district of Nagpur. He won the municipal elections and was appointed the youngest corporator of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation at the age of 22. In 1994, BJYM appointed him as national vice president. In 1997, he was elected mayor of Nagpur.
In 1999, Fadnavis contested the Maharashtra Assembly elections for the first time from Nagpur West seat and won. In 2001, he was appointed as the National Vice Chairman of Beijing Fitness Movement. In 2004, he was re-elected as MLA from Nagpur West seat. In 2009, he was elected as MLA from the newly created Nagpur South West constituency; below delimited. In 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party appointed Fadnavis as the leader of the Maharashtra Legislative Party.
In 2014, he was elected as Member of Parliament from Nagpur South West constituency and was appointed as the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra. In 2019, he was re-elected as MLA from Nagpur South West seat. On November 8, 2019, he had to resign as the chief minister of Maharashtra due to disagreements between the BJP and the Shiv Sena over seat allocation and the inability to form a government.
On June 30, 2022, Eknath Shinde, the rebel leader of the Shiv Sena who became the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was sworn in as the 20th Chief Minister of the state.

- On April 2, 2016, Fadnavis addressed a rally in Nashik and said any Indian who could not chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” should go to Pakistan or China. His remarks met with strong opposition from some factions of society. He later clarified that his remarks were not described in the way intended and had nothing to do with religion.
- In October 2016, a photo of him with a criminal went viral on social media. Criminal Bubba Bodek was charged with four murders. Eventually, his office clarified that a woman came to his office to invite Fadnavis to an event and brought Baba, without Fadnavis even knowing that Baba was a criminal.
- In February 2018, Fadnavis and his wife appeared in a music video to promote River Talk. Fadnavis along with Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, Police Inspector Datta Padsalgikar and State Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar (Sudhir Mungantiwar), lip-syncing to songs by Sonu Nigam and Amruta Fadnavis. The opposition criticized the video and said people representing the government should not appear in the music video. Fadnavis, however, defended himself saying it was done in good faith and the criticism he faced was unjustified.
