She studied at Godula Brown Memorial English High School in Assam. She has completed a degree in Commerce (Honours Accounting). Devoleena then studied jewelery design and development course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi. Thereafter, she started working as a jewelery designer at Geely India Limited in Mumbai. Devoleena loved music and dance from a very young age. She started studying classical music at the age of 6 and did her degree in Sangeet Visharad Part 1 of Classical Music from Bhatkhande Music College, Lucknow.
She is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and trained at Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai. She has won many dance competitions. Before becoming an actress, Devoleena acted in many plays such as Miri Jiyor, The Diary of Anne Frank, Ashimot Jaar Heraal Hima and Sonitkuwari. She participated in the Youth Festival of Sanjanathak Academy and won the Best Actress award for the play Maya.

- In January 2015, Devoleena was embroiled in controversy after she got into a fight with TV actress Loveleen Kaur Sasan, who plays the role of ‘Paridhi’ in the TV series ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’. Dvorina reportedly felt unsafe about Loughlin attending the show.
- In 2016, some media reported that paranormal activity was happening on the sets of “Saath Nibhaana Saathiya” and Devoleena confirmed the same. She told the media that the show’s sets were haunted and had a negative impact on the cast and crew.
- In the same year, she courted controversy for her feud with TV actor Vishal Singh, who played the role of ‘Jigar Modi’ in ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’. According to reports, Bhattacharjee was rehearsing a script with the director when Vishal and Vandana Vetrani (TV actress), who were sitting near her, were joking and giggling, which made her feel uneasy. She lost her cool and yelled at Vandana, which made Vishal uncomfortable and he told her not to yell at the senior actor. The minor issue escalated into a heated argument and the pair began trading insults. However, they settled their differences within a few months.
- In October 2016, Devoleena accused Utkarsha Naik, who played the role of ‘Pramila’ in ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’, of kidnapping her dog ‘Jugnu’ from the set of the show. She even filed a complaint against her with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Devlana said,
Yes, I am filing a complaint against Utkarsha, who I believe is behind Jugnu’s disappearance. Utkarsha was the one who picked up Jugnu in her car. And she was obsessed with him. I am convinced that it was Utkasha who did this. I will file a complaint against her with PETA. “

- In 2018, Devoleena was embroiled in a controversy when she was summoned by the Pantnagar police in Mumbai for questioning in connection with the murder of a diamond trader. Her name came up in the investigation after her phone number was found in the phone details of Rajeshwar Udani, a diamond merchant.
