Dharmash Parmar

Dharmesh Parmar is an Indian street rapper and presenter, better known by his stage name MC Tod Fod. He is known for his rap performance in “India 91”, the soundtrack of the Bollywood film “Gully Boy” (2019).

Dharmesh Parmar was born in 1998 in Naigaon, Dadar, Mumbai (age 24; time of death). He grew up on the streets of Naigaon, listening to Bollywood songs, bhajans and Bhimjits. He studied at St. Paul’s High School, Mumbai. Damish is an average student. He was often scolded by his teacher for being naughty. In an interview, Damish shared his school memories, saying:

Sir would beat the shit out of me and kick me out. From my window, my uncle would see me outside and yell, “You’re making progress!”

As a teenager, Dharmesh started watching music videos on Vh1, which sparked his interest in rap. His interest further increased when he met MC Mawali and the Swadesi crew.

In 2016, he collaborated with producer Bandish Projekt to produce the EP Katal Kalaa, which included songs such as “Dakla” and won a large number of fans. He then performed with percussionist and composer Viveick Rajagopalan at the WOMEX Festival in Spain in 2018.

In the same year, he became one of the 50 rappers cast in Zoya Akhtar’s film Gully Boy. In the movie, he performed on the soundtrack “India 91”.

In 2020, Swadesi’s music album ‘Chetavni’ addressed several social ills. He was also a part of Swadesi’s single “Plandemic”. Dharmesh also performed at his university’s Peace Festival in 2021.

On March 8, 2022, he released the single “Truth and Bass”. Parma performed for the last time at Swadesi Mela in March 2022.

Dharmesh Parmar passed away on March 21, 2022. Mumbai music group ‘Swadesi’ shared the news of his death through their Instagram account. The group posted a video clip of Parma’s final performance at the Swadesi Mela on their Instagram account and wrote:

It was on this night that @todfod_ performed his last show at Swadesi Mela. You had to be there to experience his love of playing live music. You will never be forgotten and your music will always live on. “

As soon as the news of his death came out, many celebrities in the entertainment industry expressed their condolences for his death. Indian rapper Raftaar commented on the Swadesi Movement’s Instagram post about Parmar’s death as “too soon”, while Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh shared a picture of Parmar with a heartbroken expression on his Instagram Story symbol.
