During the Jan. 16 episode of their podcast Sorry, we’re Cyrusthe mother-daughter duo talked about Brandi’s new boyfriend, who happens to be Australian — like Miley Cyrus’ ex-husband.

“Men are trash. Most of them are absolute trash,” Brandi, 37, said. “But there are a few good ones, I guess. I think I found one, so I like it.”

Tish, 57, replied that she was “so happy” for her daughter, adding that she was “hoping” for Matt, the boyfriend in question.

Tish continued, “You know what, he’s Australian. I’m not going to pick on Americans, but Australians are just different.”

“Well, not everything,” Brandi retorted, to which Tish agreed with her. The two then looked at each other and laughed before Tish said she would move on to the next topic.

Miley (32) was with Australian actor Hemsworth (35) on and off for 10 years. The former couple met in 2019 on the set of a movie The last song. They eventually tied the knot in December 2018 and then separated in August 2019. They finalized their divorce in January 2020.

The “Cvijeća” singer reflected on her marriage with The Hunger Games star during a December 2020 appearance The Howard Stern Show. Miley said at the time that she still loves Hemsworth “very much” and “always will,” but “there was too much conflict.

Miley also dated another Australian, singer Cody Simpson, from October 2019 to August 2020.

Miley dated Lilly drummer Maxx Moranda after sparking dating rumors in December 2021. A source told PEOPLE in November that the couple “have a great life together” and are “very in tune.”

“He puts her at ease. She thrives with him,” the insider said. “She finds him talented and inspiring. They have a lot of fun together.”

Hemsworth, meanwhile, has been romantically linked to girlfriend Gabriella Brooks since late 2019 and made their first public appearance together in June 2021.
