He is a trickster and a near-omnipotent figure with powers far beyond what the Doctor usually plays with. He also has evil intentions towards humanity.

In “Chuckling,” the Doctor will face off against a villain with no regard for those he considers his inferiors. When a puppet developed by a toymaker is destroying local human life, the Doctor has no choice but to try and stop this unstoppable villain. The Toymaker’s presence means the stakes are high, but Nutty Gatwa’s impending rebirth of the Doctor foreshadows the Doctor’s dark fate. The fact that the toymaker cuts the puppet strings in the trailer is even more ominous.
