Dog Refuses to Eat Kibble Until His Owners Use ‘Gourmet’ Cooking Techniques on His Food

Pas Bleu will not eat any scraps.

One of his owners, Daniel McAfee, shared a video via Storyful demonstrating the California dog’s sophisticated palate.

In the video, the silver Weimaraner shows no interest in his bowl of dry food until creative culinary techniques are applied.

“It’s time for a gourmet meal,” announces one of its owners.

The dog then watches as McAfee continues to “heat” the bowl on the cold stovetop and pretends to squeeze lime juice into wedges.

“And then we’re not going to pour absolutely any of this in here,” he says as he pulls a carton of Silk oat milk out of the fridge and shakes it over the bowl, cap still on.

Finally, the pet parent opens and closes the microwave door, then says, “Voila!” Now intrigued, Bleu follows him out of the kitchen and sits down to eat her meal.

McAfee told Storyful that he uses a “snack enhancement recipe” where he “adds absolutely nothing” to get his dog to eat.

Another dog with picky eating habits recently went viral for her owners’ ritual of pretending to “season” their dog food with salad dressing.

In a video posted on TikTok, Zoey, a 14-year-old goldendoodle, can be seen refusing her food bowl until a (sealed) bottle of ranch dressing is waved over it, making the food in the bowl seemingly more palatable.

“Senile issues with dogs,” the dog’s owner Michelle Metrailler wrote under the post, which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

“Zoey takes prescription food for her sensitive stomach, so she usually needs wet food on top,” Metrailler, who lives in Toronto, told PEOPLE.

“We were out of her canned food, so we were trying to trick her into eating her snacks without adding anything that might cause her tummy issues,” she added of the ranch dressing trick.

When Zoey celebrated her 14th birthday, Michelle and her husband Connor pretended to sprinkle cookie sprinkles on her food. But the dog didn’t fall for it.

“She prefers the ranch essence,” Michelle said.
