Bonnie Chapman is having a hard time celebrating the holidays after the death of her mother.
In a recent interview with E! News, the 25-year-old reality star opened up about the winter holidays since losing her mother, Beth Chapman, in 2019 after being diagnosed with throat cancer.
Bonnie said celebrating Christmas was “bittersweet” without Beth, who was married to her father, Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman, for 13 years.
“Because it’s Christmas, but it’s Christmas without someone who was a monumental part of my life,” she explained. “So trying to find little bits of happiness here and there while you’re at it, that’s the balance.”

Bonnie noted that although it is difficult to control feelings, she finds it healthy to allow herself to overcome them.
“I think it’s best to be honest with your emotions,” the A&E student said. “If you just stuff them in, they’ll just pile up, and you don’t want to be the person who keeps it all inside because that’s bad for you. I’d rather wear my heart on my sleeve than keep it stored and piled up with so many emotions sitting there and cooking is below the surface.”

Bonnie recalled that Christmas was no joke in her household growing up. She said her mom made her and her siblings “feel so loved because she remembered everything we said we wanted over the years.”

Beth gave birth to three children with Duane: Bonnie, Garry and Cecily. Duane has 10 other children from other relationships.
Now, Bonnie told E! News, honors his late mother by “never letting me forget and always reminding people who she was.”
She continued: “I don’t think I’ll ever be silent about her because she was my mom, she was the woman who gave me life. And the least I can do is remember her and the memories she brought into this world.”
Months after Beth’s death, Duane, 72, told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that some of her children are “barely making it.”
“We don’t know what to do,” he said. “We didn’t read, we weren’t prepared. I lost my mother first, and when my mom died, I said, ‘I wish my dad had died first, you know, ’cause I love my mom.’ ‘ I went up to them and said, ‘I’m so sorry that I didn’t die first and mum did.’ ”

In November, Bonnie got candid about her recent weight loss while talking to Hey! News. She lost 60 pounds in 10 months using Tirzepatide to reach her goal weight of 130 pounds.
She mentioned that her relationship with food worsened after she lost her mother, and again when her house burned down in April 2023.
I just didn’t feel healthy, I didn’t feel good, Bonnie recalled. “I’ve used food as a comfort for most of my life and I’ve realized I can’t do that anymore. I need to make healthier changes so I can be here longer with the people I love.”
