Don Lemon Announces New Show for ‘Debate and Discussion,’ Set to Debut on Social Media Site X

Don Lemon has revealed his next career move, announcing the launch of a news show of the same name. The Don Lemon Show has yet to receive a premiere date, but will first air on the X social network.

“I heard you… and today I came back bigger, bolder, freer!” Lemon, who was fired from CNN after 17 years last April, said in a statement Tuesday. “The first project of my new media company is The Don Lemon Show. It will be available to everyone, easily, whenever and wherever you want it, streaming on platforms where conversations happen.”

Lemon and X also announced their new “content partnership,” which means the 30-minute episodes will air on Elon Musk’s social network before hitting other platforms.

I know now more than ever that we need a place for honest discussion and debate without auditorium monitors, Lemon wrote. “This is just the beginning so stay tuned.”

Don Lemon spoke for the first time after being fired from CNN: ‘I have a responsibility to tell the truth’

Lemon has faced speculation about a possible return over the past few months, telling ABC24 in July that he “won’t let other people’s timelines affect me.”

“I think sometimes people rush to make decisions and end up making the wrong decisions,” he told the newspaper, also noting that his first priority in his new role would be the freedom to “tell the truth.”

Lemon’s departure from CNN was sudden, and the longtime anchor announced the news himself and stated that the decision came from the left.

“This morning my agent informed me that I have been fired from CNN. I am stunned,” he wrote on social media in April. “After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me that directly.”

He continued: “At no point was I given any indication that I wouldn’t be able to continue doing the work I loved online. Clearly there are some bigger issues at play.”

Not long after Lemon blasted the network, CNN’s PR team issued a counter-statement accusing him of misrepresenting how things were going. “Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is incorrect,” CNN Communications reported. “He was offered the opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

Two months before leaving the network, Lemon faced backlash for making sexist remarks on air CNN this morning. While speaking with co-hosts Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins, he asserted that 51-year-old Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley was no longer “in her prime” and then defined the top woman as being in her “20s and 30s, maybe 40 -e”.

When asked by Harlow to clarify what he meant, Lemon replied, “That’s not my thing. … If you Google ‘When is a woman in her prime,’ it will say 20s, 30s and 40s.” . No Not necessarily – I’m not saying I agree with that.”

A timeline of CNN host Don Lemon’s controversies

Viewers were quick to label his comments as sexist and ageist. Hours later, Lemon apologized on social media, saying: “The reference I made this morning to ‘prime’ women was meaningless and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age does not define her personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”

CNN responded to the criticism by removing Lemon from the show for several days and asking him to undergo “formal training.”
