He is the younger brother of actor Patrick Swayze, and began his career in the entertainment industry in the late 1980s. Patrick Swayze was born in Houston, Texas, the middle child of Patsy Swayze (née Karnes; 1927–2013), a dance teacher, and Jesse Wayne Swayze (1925–1982), an engineering draftsman.
