The ad depicts Mario, Yoshi, Pikachu and Donkey Kong in puppet suits enjoying a day out in the fields until Mario breaks the peace by attacking Yoshi. A scuffle between the four companions ensues, leading to the first animated brawl between the four of them.

While Donkey Kong has never been a particularly pretty face, this one looks particularly intimidating. He stood upright, his head slightly lowered, and his smaller-than-usual eyes seemed to be squinting at the viewer. His broad smile, while seemingly appropriate for the role and the commercial, feels out of place and creepy in this photo.
The Nintendo ape’s comedic appearance has made him an easy target for many jokes and memes over the years, though Donkey Kong remains a fan favorite. With his human-like teeth, wide mouth and cartoonish eyes, and signature red tie, he is often described as one of Nintendo’s funniest characters. Fortunately, in the ad, that was the general impression he came across. His wide smile blends into the friendly, sunny atmosphere that opens the ad, and turns sarcastic and humorous as the fight begins. This photo shows how important light, color, and music are to making an actor look good, and how the light and blur around the creepy giant monkey costume makes him feel less interesting and scary.
for many longtime fans Super Smash Bros.. franchise, this ad was their first impression of the series. Fortunately, Donkey Kong doesn’t feel scary, otherwise things could have been different break bros One thing’s for sure though, this Kong is definitely more remarkable than what Nintendo fans may be used to.
