Last year was a winning one for Donna Kelce.
The favorite NFL mom talked to PEOPLE about the “fun ride” she’s been on since her sons, Travis and Jason Kelce, faced off against each other in Super Bowl LVII in February 2023.
“It was really surreal and it was a fun ride,” Donna told PEOPLE exclusively, almost a year after the sibling showdown at the Big Game. “Being able to be with the kids more than any other year before,” was one of the highlights she recalled without hesitation.
Just as the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Philadelphia Eagles center worked hard on the field, Donna went out of her way to make it to her sons’ games during the 2023 season. She once even boarded a flight to catch both games on the same day!

In addition to being able to spend time with Jason and Travis, Donna cited “experiences” and “places” as some of the “perks” that have “come to prominence” amid her sons’ rising fame. As for Travis, his fame undoubtedly rose when his team won the Super Bowl, but it’s increased tenfold since he’s been dating Taylor Swift.
“Enjoying people I’ve never met before” was another highlight Donna listed, before recalling “the best moment” — which, of course, was when it all started. “Definitely when both boys met in the Big Game,” she says.
Other than that moment, Donna reveals that she “doesn’t really have a favorite.” Still, she mentioned how “it was fun to be at the NFL Honors,” the league’s 2023 annual awards show and several premieres. She quoted Jason’s Prime Video documentary, Kelceand Patrick Mahomes’ Netflix documentary series, Backas a few more “fun” experiences.

Elsewhere in our conversation, Donna opened up about what has kept her family close over the years amid her sons’ busy schedules as professional NFL athletes.
“We’re very, very small. We’re tight-knit,” Donna told PEOPLE exclusively of her brood. – We stay together and try to help each other as much as we can.
The mother of two broke down her family tree, explaining that her husband’s brother and sister had no children. So, says Donna, it was “just two boys” — who, she admits, “were yelled at when they were growing up because they didn’t have relatives to play with at Christmas.”
So Donna and her sons always had each other’s backs. “We stay together and try to help each other as much as we can,” she says.

Outside of football and family, Donna says “food” and “friends” are what bond the Kelces, as that’s what they “all have in common.” He’s sure to mention “grandkids” as another link, referring to Jason and his wife Kylie’s three daughters: Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett.
Of course, competition also brings boys together – even in activities that go beyond the gridiron! “Dodgeball and golf” are some of the sports Donna lists, recalling a few contests that heated up during their childhood.
They included “who can get to the table first” and “who can sit in front of the car,” Donna says with a laugh, noting that the list “just goes on and on.”
Family rivalries aside, Donna says Travis and Jason didn’t hold anything against each other from their pasts. At least not “at this point,” she admits. “I think they are each other’s biggest fans.”
