‘Don’t lecture me!’ fumes Eamonn Holmes as he clashes with guest on live TV after split from Ruth Langsford

EAMONN Holmes had a heated confrontation with a guest on live TV yesterday.

Presenter Eamonn, 64, whose divorce from wife Ruth Langsford, also 64, was revealed by The Sun in May, lost his cool when a colleague appeared on his show yesterday.

The television veteran raged: “Don’t give me lessons!” when motivational speaker Imarn Ayton, 33, took issue with his claim that displaying the Union Jack flag was “no big deal”.

During the raucous debate, Imarn declared, “I understand racism more than you do!” to which Eamonn retorted: “Give me some!”

In a war of words, she suggested that Britons should reconsider their association with the flag because of its association with far-right groups.

Imarn confronted another guest, historian Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, who took a different point of view.

She became visibly annoyed when Eamonn finished with her opponent’s argument and started speaking for him.

It followed a report that a village in Norfolk had split over plans to erect a flagpole outside its village hall.

Claxton, home to fewer than 300 people, had hoped to erect the mast as a patriotic symbol.

But the proposal has sparked controversy, with some residents arguing it could deter potential new arrivals.

As things boiled over, Eamonn, who co-hosted GB News’ Breakfast with Ellie Costello, muttered to Imarna: “Can I say something? You don’t have to lecture me.”

To which she replied, “No, I have to when you say things like that. ‘With all due respect’.”

Eamonn replied: “Because I sit in the middle trying to see both sides of things.”

Imarn asked, “But are you done with mine? Are you done with mine? You’re done with the race. And this is a right-wing channel.”

Belfast-born Eamonn insisted: “I’m done with everybody. I’m trying to say you didn’t grow up in Northern Ireland where the flag represented something political and against a certain religion. I did. I had to live with it.”

Imarn jumped in, “And just like black people, you’re not black sir, and I understand racism more than you do.”

The activist, who rose to prominence during the Black Lives Matter protests, describes herself as a “racist thought leader” and “an accomplished, passionate speaker who can command and inspire listeners.”

Viewers were left furious with Imarno’s comments and soon took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “Get this fool out! People like her are dividing our country!”

Someone else added: “A woman needs to think about her words!!! I love the Union Flag because I’m British and proud to be one.

“That doesn’t make me far right and I find her views quite offensive to our country!

“This is another attack on our country and it wants to create divisions!”

A third agreed: “All I can say after the Union Flag debate, MY BLOOD BOILS.”

Former TV couple Ruth and Eamonn announced their separation back in May.

Eammon later moved out of their house after she discovered messages between him and another mystery woman.

Over the past year, Eamonn got close to relationship counselor Katie Alexander, 42, and they started spending a lot of time together.

Earlier this month, she raised a few eyebrows when she was photographed wearing a huge sparkly ring.

Timeline of Ruth and Eamonn’s relationship

Before the shock split announcement, Ruth and Eamonn seemed like one of the strongest couples on British TV – even with their signature style of bickering.

Here’s how their romance went…

1997 – The couple meet for the first time after being introduced by mutual friends, two years after Eamonn splits from his first wife, Gabrielle, with whom he has three children.

1997-2002 – Out of respect for Gabrielle, the couple kept their relationship out of the limelight. Ruth told the Daily Mail: “I thought it said a lot about the kind of man he was, the father and the integrity he had. It made me love him more, not less.”

2002 – Ruth and Eamonn welcome their son Jack to the family.

2005 – Eamonn finalizes his divorce from Gabrielle.

2006 – The pair begin co-hosting episodes of This Morning on Fridays.

2010 – Eamonn proposes to Ruth while at the Cheltenham races, after asking Ruth’s mother for her hand in marriage.

June 2010 – Eamonn and Ruth married at Elvetham Hall, Hampshire.

2016 – Eamonn undergoes double hip replacement in first of many health battles.

June 2019 – On This Morning, Ruth and Eamonn reveal the secret to their happy marriage. Eamonn credits “compromise, consideration and a lot of marriage”, while Ruth said it was “laughter and an equal marriage”.

November 2020 – Ruth and Eamonn are replaced in their regular Friday slot by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in a ‘show shake-up’.

December 2021 – After a year of being moved to the bank holiday presenting slot, both Eamonn and Ruth have left This Morning.

January 2022 – Eamonn makes his debut on GB News, while Ruth remains on ITV in her long-standing role on Loose Women.

September 2022 – Eamonn undergoes spinal surgery after years of back problems, including a pinched sciatic nerve.

November 2022 – Eamonn falls down the stairs of his Surrey home with Ruth and breaks his shoulder, requiring further surgery.

September 2023 – Eamonn has a spine and neck stretching procedure as part of his year-long recovery.

May 2024 – Ruth and Eamonn announce their separation after 14 years of marriage and 27 years of relationship.

Katie has denied it was an engagement ring and insists she is not getting married.

And Eamonn reportedly sent Ruth a reassuring message after pictures of Katie with the ring circulated.

Katie travels from her home in Huddersfield most weekends to drive to Eamonn’s luxury flat in South West London.

Eamonn and Ruth met back in 1997 and started dating that year, but only made their relationship public in 1999.

The couple – who married in 2010 – welcomed son Jack into the world in 2002.
