Drivers ‘going out of their way’ to stop at luxurious motorway service station that’s ‘developed its own cult fan club’

DRIVERS have been “going the extra mile” and stopping at a luxury motorway service which has developed its own “cult fan club”.

The place is regularly ranked as one of the best vacation spots in the country – you can even walk away with a cooler full of luxury food.

Gloucester Services, located between junctions 11A and 12 of the M5, is renowned for its stunning surroundings, excellent restaurant and wonderful farm shop.

It was originally developed as a sister project to Tebay Services in Cumbria, another prime celebrity-loved habitat.

Visiting drivers can enjoy an extensive menu that ranges from a sumptuous breakfast, which includes the county’s famous pork sausages, to stuffed flatbreads, soup or steak and ale pie.

And if you want to grab some fancy food to take home, you can wander over to the grocery store, which boasts a deli, butcher, cheese counter, patisserie, and whole milk ice cream station.

One Instagram user, commenting on a video tour of the service, recalled how he made an entire Christmas shop there “with venison sausages … sourdough bread and prepared stuffed pheasants.”

If you somehow showed up with a full stomach, you can just enjoy the beautiful scenery instead.

There are no gray and dreary concrete blocks here, with the main gas station building built into the rolling hills of Westmoreland.

The roof is covered in vibrant green grass and seems to be the only building for miles around, set against a backdrop of dense forest and neatly trimmed fields.

Even the car park has impeccably maintained grass verges at the end of each group of bays, as well as a row of trees planted in the middle.

The babbling brook flows into the lake in front of the restaurant, populated by families of ducks and stretching all the way to the pebble shore where guests sit at wooden tables.

The large panoramic windows provide a spectacular view of the English countryside in all its glory, especially on sunny days.

The interior includes lacquered wooden beams and columns throughout, with mezzanine-style tiling around the edges and a huge skylight that gives a feeling of light and airiness.

Commenters on social media went crazy over clips and shots of the adorable site.

One wrote: “I’m doing my best to go there.”

Another added: “A touch of class.”

It comes after the UK’s most expensive personalized number plates for 2023 were revealed – with the most expensive breaking £120,000.
