Players have found evidence in Dying Light 2 that points at a possible future DLC location, which could potentially be set in a castle set atop a forested hillside. While there’s plenty to do and explore in Dying Light 2, there’s a location that has been conveniently left out from the map. Inside the metro tunnels, a train map details the three sectors; however, a fourth called Elyseum branches out further from the city. Using Dying Light 2‘s paraglider and grappling hook, players found the dark castle on a hill in what appears to be the Elyseum area, a structure reminiscent of Dracula’s castle from Bram Stoker.
Developed and published by Techland, Dying Light 2 is set after a virus has wiped out the rest of humanity, turning those infected into abominations. While the zombie apocalypse themes are none too subtle, the game could make some different thematic horror choices in future DLC, and a creepy castle would make for a perfect Gothic spinoff from the standard zombie-slaying action.
A set of photos posted by Redditor Jpiko01 reveal the castle’s location is tucked in the corner of the map, so players looking to catch a glimpse would need to climb higher. While the dark castle only suggests a possible new location, considering that Techland promises five years of content, it appears that the castle could become a new location for players to explore as part of a full DLC or smaller update to Dying Light 2. The castle seems to be more detailed than most background buildings in the area, and looks to be a unique piece of architecture, making it a tantalizing possibility for a change of pace and scenery for any new content.
Elyseum And The Dark Castle Of Dying Light 2 Could Be Future DLC
The game already features a variety of locations, from towering buildings to enclosed hallways, with the majority of the map navigated on foot, paraglider, grappling hook – or Dying Light 2‘s fast travel system for more impatient players. Elyseum seemingly offers more open space in stark contrast to the close-quarters buildings in most of Dying Light 2’s existing world. The more open space could mix up gameplay by adding a vehicle similar to how Dying Light‘s DLC, The Following, added an upgradeable buggy to explore the countryside. The dark castle could also expand Dying Light 2 with a medieval makeover adding weaponry and cosmetics. It’s happened before with the Chivalry crossover that introduced medieval warfare to Dying Light. Also, the introduction of European weaponry goes hand in hand with the location of the fictional city the Dying Light 2 is set in.
Despite having development issues, Dying Light 2 continues to improve on itself, and the dark castle of Elyseum hints at the game’s raw potential. With an already massive map cut into three sectors, a fourth would not only reward players who eagerly dove into the game at launch, but would add to the stream of content. The location could also expand on the narrative, possibly fleshing out the factions in the game or adding a new faction altogether. Whatever the case, only time will tell what the dark castle in the cut-off section of the map in Elyseum entails for Dying Light 2.
