Have you come across a language you don’t understand? Whether you’re learning something new or want some quick information, you can use Google Translate to translate text into a language you know. You can translate pages in a document, block of text, handwriting, or even audio on a desktop website. The Translator app has similar but different features, so make sure you use the right device. You can also use the Chrome app to translate websites. This wikiHow shows you how to use Google Translate on your computer, iPhone, or Android device.
- Go to https://translate.google.com/. Copy and paste the text in the box on the left. See your translation in the box to the right.
- In the Translator app, copy and paste a block of text to translate. You can also tap “Conversation” to translate two spoken languages at the same time.
- In the Google Chrome browser, tap ••• → “Translate” to translate the web page. Tap the gear icon to change the output language.

Translate the image. You will be able to use Google Lens to translate text. Tap Camera under the field.
- If you’re using Google Lens for the first time, tap Continue to accept the terms, then touch Alright.
- Point your device’s camera at the text. It can be a brochure, a document or a note.
- Google Translate will translate visible words when you hover the camera over them.
- Tap the camera button at the bottom to take a photo.
- If you think there is an error in the detected language or the output language, you can change it by touching the language and selecting it from the list.

Translate the manuscript. If you need to translate a certain character or phrase, but cannot type it into the field, you can use Manuscript characteristic.

Use Touch Translator (Android only). With Tap to Translate, you will be able to copy text in another app and translate it within the same app.[2]
