AAP politician Amanatullah Khan’s Delhi home was raided by the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday in connection with a corruption case involving unauthorized appointments to the Delhi Waqf Board. Amanatullah Khan, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, was the target of a money laundering raid by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi on Tuesday. Based on two FIRs filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the ED has started taking action. The cases concern irregularities in the recruitment process for the Delhi Waqf Board, which Khan heads.
While conducting searches, the guidelines of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) are followed. The same case led to the arrest of Amanatullah Khan, a 49-year-old member of the Delhi Assembly from Okhla district, by the ACB in Delhi last year. He was eventually released on bail in September 2022. The case was based on a report alleging that Khan had fraudulently employed 32 people while serving as chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, in violation of all rules and regulations. In addition, the lawsuit accused him of corruption and favoritism.
After AAP politician and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh was detained by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday (October 4) in connection with a money laundering case linked to Delhi’s liquor policy, the Enforcement Directorate raided Khan’s home several days later. After Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister, Singh is the second high-profile person to be booked in the case, dealing a heavy blow to the ruling AAP in Delhi. The party called Singh’s arrest a “dictatorial step” by the Narendra Modi administration. Keep checking with us for the latest international news.
