In 2005, she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In August 2008, she was appointed Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Argentina. In January 2021, she started serving as Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Later, she was appointed Deputy Minister of External Affairs, Delhi. While serving as Deputy Secretary of State, she dealt with issues related to India’s neighbors, particularly Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran.

She serves as Counselor at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York. As Counselor, she represented India on issues such as Security Council reform, counter-terrorism, cyber security issues and Security Council (regional issues). She also worked on economic and social issues at the United Nations during a probationary period in New Delhi in 2007. She also serves as Senior Advisor for Peace and Security Affairs in the Office of the President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. In September 2016, she criticized Pakistan’s behavior during her speech at the United Nations General Assembly, which was highly recognized by the Indian media. In her speech, she specifically targeted Pakistan for its alleged support of terrorism. she says,
