Elden Ring: How To Get Ordovis’ Greatsword

The Ordovis’ Greatsword is a weapon for players who favor long-reaching heavy attacks in Elden Ring. From the very beginning, players can decide if they want to jump into this world with our without weapons. From that point, players can pretty much explore whatever corner of the globe they’d like. Certain areas have more difficult enemies, but it’s all part of the Elden Ring process to become stronger and unlock new weapons. While there are tons of different weapon variety types, there’s nothing quite as classic as an Elden Ring Greatsword. In the case of Ordovi’s Greatsword, it might be one of the best in the game.

Ordovis’ Greatsword begins with a base stat of 100 attack and 73 physical guard. In order to wield the blade, players must have a Strength stat of at least 14 and Dexterity at 8. The thing that makes this weapon so unique is its Weapon Skill. Ordovis’ Vortex is a move that will slam the Greatsword into the ground, attacking everything in a nearby radius. It takes about two seconds to start up, but players can hold it for even longer for additional damage. This skill takes up a bit of magic but is definitely worth the investment.

In order to unlock the Ordovis’ Greatsword in Elden Ring, the player will need to clear out Auriza Hero’s Grave. This is a mini-dungeon located near the entrance of Leyndell, Royal Capital. At the end of this dungeon, there will be a fog boss door holding two Crucible Knights. Defeating them will reward players with the Ordovi’s Greatsword. Although, this is a bit more challenging than it sounds due to the sheer power and numbers of the Crucible Knights. Make sure to spend any Runes before entering this dungeon; otherwise, trying to collect them after death will be pretty difficult.

Defeating The Crucible Knights in Elden Ring

Since both Crucible Knights will be attacking at the same time, it will be difficult to dodge them both no matter what, especially for players who favor melee weapon classes. Bringing along a shield will make this battle a bit easier, but it can only do so much until the stamina bar expires. So instead, players should lock onto one knight and focus on attacking them. Bait out their attacks by getting close enough with the shield and punish them. Out of the two, the base-level Crucible Knight will be easier to defeat, so focus on him.

He’ll be the one without the “Ordovis” title. Since he wields a spear, try to roll behind him to get in some extra damage. Once the first Crucible Knight dies, continue the same process with the second one. Make sure to back up often to heal using the Flask of Crimson Tears. It might take a few attempts because that’s the nature of Elden Ring’s difficulty. Regardless, clearing them out will reward players with the Ordovis’ Greatsword.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
