Elle King Reschedules 5 Upcoming Concerts Following ‘Hammered’ Grand Ole Opry Incident

Some of Ella King’s upcoming concerts have been postponed following her recent controversial Grand Ole Opry performance.

After the “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer told patrons she was “fucking pumped” and admitted she forgot the lyrics during a performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Friday, five of her planned concerts have been postponed until later this year.

In an Instagram Story post published Thursday, King, 34, announced new dates for five shows in Shipshewana, Indiana; Waukegan, Illinois; Harris, Michigan; and Dallas, Texas.

“Your tickets will be valid for the new dates. If you are unable to attend the new date, refunds are available at the point of purchase,” King wrote. “See you there!”

The postponed show in Dallas at Billy Bob’s Texas was originally scheduled for Friday. “The Elle King event originally scheduled for Friday 1/26/24 has been moved to Saturday 9/21/24 at 10pm,” the venue announced on Instagram. “Thank you for understanding!”

King’s moment that sparked a reaction on stage came during Dolly Parton’s 78th birthday concert alongside musicians Ashley Monroe, Tigirlily Gold, Dailey & Vincent and Terri Clark.

During a performance in Nashville, the “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” singer could be seen talking to the audience about the refund in several videos shared on TikTok.

The exchange came after King seemingly blithely sang along — and improvised a line about not knowing the lyrics to one of Parton’s hits, “Marry Me” — while she was admittedly impaired.

“I don’t know the words to these things in this fucking town,” King sang. “Don’t tell Dolly because it’s her birthday.”

She later added after the song, “Everybody’s like, oh my god… we bought tickets for this s—. I’m not even going to lie,” she said as she put her hands in her pockets. “Shit….I’m not even gonna lie. You all bought tickets for this s—?”

After telling fans he was “not going to get your money back,” the crowd member then responded with “I don’t want that.”

“Good, because you don’t get it,” King joked.

According to a TikTok user who attended the performance, King swore on stage “about 15 times” before talking to the audience and “forgot the words to the song Dolly was supposed to sing.” The site then “dropped the curtain on her,” according to the TikToker.

“I’m going to tell you one more thing. Hi, my name is Elle King and I’m freaking out,” King said Friday night.

King’s representative has not commented on the incident. The Grand Ole Opry has responded to fans’ concerns X (formerly twitter) Saturday, after one attendee said King “ruined the night with her horrible, drunken and profane performance,” calling it “a shame we all had to witness that.”

“Hi Judas, We deeply regret and apologize for the language used during last night’s second performance of the Opry,” the Opry wrote in response.
