Emiliano Grillo News
The Charles Schwab Challenge was won on Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas, by Emiliano Grillo of Argentina, who overcame a spectacular double bogey on his 72nd round and defeated Adam Schenk on the first hole of the playoff.
Grillo won his second PGA Tour match of his career in October 2015, seven years and seven months after his first. According to Grillo on the CBS broadcast, “They say second is harder than the first, and it definitely was.” Currently, I feel on top of the world.
Grillo and Schenk moved on to the par-three 16th hole at Colonial Country Club after retaking the par-four 18th hole and each making par. Schenk’s ball sailed past the green as Grillo’s tee shot rolled to within five feet of the hole.
When Schenk played his second shot to within 2 1/2 feet of the pin, he made Grillo work for it. Grillo’s left-to-right birdie putt, however, was always certain.Although Grillo had a two-stroke lead when he struck his tee shot at hole number 18, Schenk finished with a 72 to tie them both at eight under par.
The bullet was fired far to the right, landing in the middle of a pathway in a stream of water. The ball was reportedly carried by the water for about 100 yards before coming to rest on a small rock, according to the CBS programme. Grillo executed a penalty shot and placed his ball on the entry route.
Grillo expressed his viewpoint by saying, “Today I made a double on 18 and honestly I didn’t care.” Naturally, I would have preferred to make the putt on the 72nd hole, but I was able to finish with two excellent birdies on 16 and some beautiful swings there on 18.
Grillo started to climb the leaderboard during his eventful front nine, making four birdies and two bogeys. Before his risky double bogey, he added birdies at holes 12 and 16, the latter coming on a putt that was about 20 feet long. This brought him to 10 under.
Schenk, who opened the competition with rounds of 66-67-67, recorded three bogeys in his opening 13 holes before recording his first birdie of the day at the par-three 16th. There, his shot came up short and
Harry Hall of England, who had at least a share of the lead after each of the previous three rounds, aced his opening two holes before recording five bogeys to finish with a final-round score of 73. As he stepped up to the 18th tee, he was tied for first place with Schenk and Grillo at eight under, but his shot went left and into a water hazard.
The World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, whose 67 included the second hole-in-one of his PGA Tour career, and the 25-year-old rookie from the PGA Tour tied for third place at seven-under after the 25-year-old made a bogey. He took aim at the pin at the par-3 eighth hole, where his ball made a couple hops before rolling directly into the hole.
