Emily Blunt Says She’s ‘Appalled’ by Video Showing Her Calling Server ‘Enormous’: ‘I’m So Sorry’ (Exclusive)

Emily Blunt is apologizing after returning to a 2012 talk show in which she was portrayed using insensitive language.

Fans of Blunt, 40, recently discovered a YouTube clip of Oppenheimer a star appearance in Great Britain The Jonathan Ross Show in September 2012, in which she called a restaurant server “huge” while reminiscing about her time filming the movie Looper in the United States. “I just have to address this because my jaw was on the floor watching this footage from 12 years ago,” Blunt says in a statement exclusively to PEOPLE. “I’m horrified that I would say something so insensitive, hurtful and unrelated to whatever story I was trying to tell on the talk show.” “I’ve always considered myself someone who wouldn’t dream of upsetting anyone, no matter what, saying something like this at that moment is unrecognizable to me or anything I stand for,” she adds. “And yet it happened, and she said I did and I’m very sorry for any injury. I was absolutely old enough to know better.”
